J Turner Application 6/6/2020
« on: June 06, 2020, 07:39:16 PM »
First Name: James
Last Name: Turner
Discord ID: Swampy#6648
Age: 46

How long have you been playing DCS?:  10+ years.  I started out with the Black Shark, moved to the A-10C, and I have been playing the F/A-18 since its release.  I have been playing multiplayer for a number of years, and multiplayer exclusively for the past 3 years.

Have you read and understood the unit's definition of realism gameplay and is it the kind of experience you're looking for?: It is exactly the kind of experience I am looking for.  I am looking for a group that is fun to be around but takes it serious when performing missions.  I am an avid aviation fan, a former E-3 AWACS aircrew member with 2000 hours and 500 combat hours, and I have been in aviation all of my life, with my father being a career Air Force Pilot.

Desired role/airframe (F/A-18C, F-14B, F-16, or Fleet Targeting Office): F-16.  My primary aircraft has been the F/A-18 for years, and I would consider myself a higher that average pilot who takes the jet out to practice things like munition currency and procedure training on a regular basis to remain proficient.  I was originally wanting to switch to the F-16 eventually, being both a brat of an Air Force pilot and also a member myself, and besides, I thought about joining the navy but I pee standing up so I decided to go into the Air Force  :P  With your F/A-18 squad being full I figure this is a perfect time as any to switch to the F-16

If your desired airframe is F-14B, what is your perferred position? (Pilot or RIO):N/A

How did you find out about us?:  Hoggit

Have you read and understood the requirements for our unit, the criteria for being active, and do you understand that failure to complete said criteria will place you into the reserves squadron?:  Yes

Do you understand that this is a CST (GMT -6) unit and that all events will be scheduled as such?: Yes.

Do you understand that by applying to this unit you are applying for a slot within a training squadron, that competes for slots within the unit. That as a member of a training squadron, you are not a fully fledged member of the unit until/if selected?:   Yes

Do you understand that attendance by all qualified and slotted pilots is mandatory on Saturdays at 1900 CST (Central Time Zone). Will you be able to attend these times?: Yes

Why do you want to join Carrier Strike Group 2?:   I was a member of the 355th for a number of years, but they only flew on Sundays at 9pm EST, which was a bit late for me.  I left on good terms and have been looking for a right fit.  I am a super laid back guy who likes to joke around except when it comes to flying missions and training.  I haven't been able to find anyone like that as of yet, as they are either serious with only a couple of people who are hardly ever on or a gaggle of pilots who have no idea what they are doing.  I came across your group and decided to stop by your discord, and was happy to see 20+ members online in your operation sortie.  I am looking for a quality over quantity type of environment with the numbers to support activity.

Thank you for your time and concideration

Application Accepted

Mr. Turner, thank you for your application to Carrier Strike Group 2. Your application has been accepted. Within a few minutes, you should receive access to the rest of the forums and access to the modifications that we use. I am processing you into TRARON THREE (VT-3) "Red Knights", where you will undergo training with your desired airframe and squadron. After a few training sessions to get you up to speed on the basics of the airframe, you will join your desired squadron and finish your training with them.

Several things to do before officially flying with CSG-2: Join our Discord Server HERE and check in with either CAPT J. Wolfe or CAPT S. Clark. We will assign you your proper member groups and you can ask us any questions you may have, and/or schedule your first training session. Secondly, be sure to download any DCS mods that are required. You can ask your Squadron CO for that information, or check on the forums if you have access to it. Third, make sure you are running the DCS Open Beta client. All of our pilots utilize this client, and it is considered the main version of the game by most of the DCS multiplayer community.

Finally, when you are properly processed into the forums (given a proper name, rank, permissions, etc), you will need to check into your respective training squadron both on the forums and in Discord. Failure to do so within 7 days will result in an administrative discharge. Please do so HERE.

Thank you, and we look forward to flying with you!

Respectfully,
LT. V "Jerry" Sprenger
